Neurodivergence
With an es琀椀mated 15-20% of the popula琀椀on
iden琀椀昀椀ed as neurodivergent (N. Doyle,
Neurodiversity At Work: A Biopsychosocial
Model and the Impact on Working Adults,
2020), many individuals fall under this
category without formal diagnosis or access
to specialized assessments. While a formal
diagnosis can o昀昀er valida琀椀on and access to
support, it's not essen琀椀al for everyone. The
decision to pursue diagnosis rests with the
individual, balancing personal comfort with the
poten琀椀al bene昀椀ts of valida琀椀on and support.
Managing Health
and Wellbeing
Neurodivergent individuals bene昀椀t from
similar strategies for maintaining overall health
and wellbeing as everyone else. Priori琀椀sing
su昀케cient sleep, a balanced diet, regular
exercise, social engagement, and hobbies
helps promote both physical and mental
wellness. Recognising personal needs and
making accommoda琀椀ons is equally important,
par琀椀cularly to avoid neurodivergent burnout,
which can manifest di昀昀erently and more
frequently than typical burnout.
