THE WORKPLACE
RESPONSE TO
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Forward-thinking businesses have already recognised that domestic
abuse is a workplace wellbeing issue and are taking positive steps to
support employees who may be victims.
A workplace should:
- Understand the issue, and
- Implement a clear strategy
that is known to all employees.
Employers and employees are not expected
to become specialists in handling DFV, nor
should sta昀昀 take on the role of healthcare
workers or counsellors. However, there is a
role for everyone in addressing the s琀椀gma,
knowing what to look for and encouraging
conversa琀椀ons when it is suspected that
something is wrong.
Addressing family and domes琀椀c violence
requires a mul琀椀-faceted approach, including
preven琀椀on, support for survivors, legal and
systemic changes, and societal a琀tude shi昀琀s.
Organisa琀椀ons and resources dedicated to this
cause are crucial in providing immediate help to
those in need and in driving long-term change.
For those experiencing or witnessing family
and domes琀椀c violence, con昀椀den琀椀al advice
