An aspect of mental fitness that many
people don’t consciously consider is our
connection to nature. Research shows
that being outdoors has a very positive
effect on our overall health. At home,
living with plants and trees around you
has proved to be highly beneficial for
mental wellbeing. One study showed that
people who were randomly assigned
public housing in an apartment set
amongst trees had measurably better
mental health than those living in barren,
urban surrounds. Research has also
shown that office workers who were
fortunate enough to have a window on
nature, had better job and life satisfaction
than colleagues without a view.
