The Consequence of
seeking the ‘Easy Fix’
What is the fallout of humans believing
something intricately complex and nuanced such as
mental health can be neat and defined and fixed?
What is happening? Many schools, organisations,
support programs and treatment centres are reporting
anger and sometimes rage. What are we angry at?
Is it ‘missing out’ on a something, perhaps a diagnosis,
the right and confirmatory landing place that has
so much click neatly into place? Or, is it anger at
a system failing to meet our ever-growing need
for understanding, support, accommodation and
treatment? Are we angry that we’ve been sold the
quick fix through 30 second reels that feel like us,
but in reality turned out to be an artifice
masquerading as a known mental health condition
devoid of inherent complexity and nuance?
